Found out my shears were $60 duller than I thought after a sharpening test

I took my favorite pair of Joewells to a sharpener at the Illinois Beauty Show last Saturday. He put them under a microscope and showed me the edge was rolled over, not sharp. Said I probably haven't had a true sharp edge in 8 months. All those times I blamed the sectioning or the product... Has anyone else gotten their shears checked under a scope and been shocked at what they saw?

That "micro chips" part hit close to home. I had the same gut punch when I saw what was actually going on with my blades, makes you wonder how many cuts you could've saved.

Dude, the exact same thing happened to me last year lol. I took my Mizutanis to a guy at a trade show and he put them under the scope and I almost cried when I saw the micro chips all along the edge. It really makes you rethink all those times you blamed the product or the client's hair for a bad cut.
