Finally fixed orange peel by changing my spray distance

I've been struggling with orange peel on my spray jobs for like 6 months straight. Tried different reducers, different pressure settings, even swapped to a new gun. Then my coworker watched me for 2 minutes and told me I was holding the gun 10 inches away instead of 6. Fixed it instantly. Has anyone else had a simple distance tweak fix something you were overcomplicating?

Totally agree, pulling back that extra inch was the only thing that fixed mine too.

Three tries on mine before I figured that out. First two still had that annoying looseness no matter how tight I got the main adjustment. Finally loosened the whole thing, pulled the belt back about two inches, and tightened from there. Felt like a completely different machine after that. Also made sure the tension roller wasn't hitting the housing, which turned out to be part of my problem too.
