Client's hair dye turned green after I used a new brand of developer

Mixed up a batch last Tuesday for a regular and the whole head went swamp green in 15 minutes. Had to strip it twice and redo the color for free, anyone else had a developer brand totally betray you like that?

Man, davidh88, I gotta push back a little on saying it "sucks that bad." In my experience, the developer brand is rarely the real culprit here, even if it feels like it in the moment. Your mileage may vary, but I've had this green thing happen more times than I can count with high-lift blondes or when the client had a ton of old red or copper pigment in their hair. Take this with a grain of salt, but I'd put my money on the client's home hair color history or mineral buildup in the water way before I blame the developer. If you're using a standard 20 or 30 volume from a decent brand, the chemistry is pretty much the same across the board. Stripping it twice and redoing it for free sounds like you handled it the right way, but I'd check the client's previous color log before you swear off that developer.

Bro that sucks so bad. Had a similar thing happen with a different brand a few months back and it was a nightmare to fix.
