A client told me my highlights were too thick and it changed everything
I had this regular named Sarah who came in last Thursday for her usual partial highlights. She sat down and said 'you're taking too big of sections, I can see the lines.' At first I was annoyed but then I looked at her hair in the mirror and she was right. I changed my section size from about a half inch to a quarter inch and it makes such a difference in how blended everything looks. Has anyone else had a client point out something obvious that you just missed for years?

@noahpark, that's a solid point about Jenna though I think cuticle prep is a bit different from highlights since you're working on the nail itself not the hair. The thickness of a highlight slice changes how the color lifts completely, like a quarter inch gives way more natural dimension than a half inch.

My friend Jenna does nails and had a client tell her she was doing the cuticle prep wrong after three years. Client was like "hey you're pushing too hard, it's leaving marks." Jenna was super defensive at first but then really watched her own hand on the next person. She changed her pressure and angle completely. Now her work looks way cleaner and she says that one comment basically fixed a habit she didn't even know she had. Sometimes clients just see things from a different angle I guess.
