A client at my salon in Phoenix grabbed my wrist mid-cut and said 'stop, you're going too fast'
I was doing a stacked bob on a woman named Dana who'd been coming to me for about 8 months, and I was cruising through the back section like I always do. She stopped me cold and told me she could feel how rushed I was, that her last stylist at a chain place in Scottsdale did the same thing and she hated how it grew out. So I slowed way down, took smaller sections, and honestly the cut came out cleaner than most of my fast ones. Now I'm wondering how many other clients are just too polite to say something.
Wondering why clients feel like they can't speak up is the real question here. Dana had eight months with you and still almost didn't say anything, so how many people just sit there and let you rush because they're scared of being rude? Have you tried asking at the start of the cut if they want you to check in more, or do you just wait for someone to grab your wrist?
