Warning: That "quick" all-staff email I sent last week cost us 3 hours of worktime
I fired off a vaguely worded update about the new PTO policy to 200 people at our Denver office, thinking it was no big deal. Within 45 minutes I had 37 replies asking for clarification, plus a call from HR. I learned that sending a corporate comms blast without a clear subject line and bullet points just wastes everyone's time. Has anyone else had a routine announcement blow up in your face like that?

Bullet points are the unsung heroes of workplace emails, honestly. They force you to keep it short and stop people from reading between the lines. My rule now is if it takes more than two scrolls on a phone, it needs a rewrite or a meeting invite instead.

I mean, are work emails really that deep though?
