Unpopular opinion: Most corporate purpose statements are just empty words

I was reading a report from the University of Michigan last week. It said over 70% of people think corporate social responsibility is just a marketing tactic. That stat hit hard because I've written those fluffy statements myself. How do you actually make a company's purpose feel real to employees, not just a line on the website?

It starts with leadership actually living it. If the C-suite bonuses aren't tied to those purpose goals, it's just wallpaper.

I used to write those fluffy statements too, but wren_walker62 is right about tying bonuses to goals.

It's funny how fast those nice statements disappear when there's no real money behind them. Bonuses force people to pay attention to what actually matters in the company. Empty words just make everyone cynical after a while.
