The great debate on internal comms software: Slack vs email for urgent updates?

I used to think Slack was the only way to reach people fast for crisis comms, but after a server outage in March at our Denver office, half the team missed the Slack alert because they were in meetings. Email caught them later but by then rumors were already spreading. Has anyone else had this backfire where the trendy tool actually hurt your response time?

Oh yeah, a friend of mine works at a tech startup where their Slack went down during a product launch and everyone just sat there refreshing like idiots while emails slowly trickled in hours later. Turns out putting all your eggs in one basket is a great way to watch stuff burn.

Isn't that always how it goes, @mila_sullivan? My Slack froze mid-sentence last week and I just stared at my screen like a confused golden retriever.
