The day our internal newsletter got 12 replies instead of 300 views

Last Tuesday we sent out our usual Friday morning email to all 400 employees, but this time I swapped the fancy graphics for a plain text update with one simple story from a warehouse worker in Reno. She talked about how she fixed a shipping delay by calling a customer directly, and I put her exact words in the email, no edits. By noon we had 12 replies, which sounds small, but before that we were lucky to get 2 or 3 reactions total. People actually forwarded it to their teams and one manager asked if we could feature her again next month. I guess real talk beats polished design every time, has anyone else tried ditching the templates for raw employee stories?

and that's the thing right, people are so tired of corporate speak they just tune it all out. once you give them something that sounds like an actual human talking, it's like a breath of fresh air. bet if you kept doing that every week you'd start getting people volunteering their own stories too, that's when it gets really good.
