That week in 2019 when our internal newsletter completely backfired

Had this one week where our CEO sent out a cheerful memo about 'streamlining operations' right after we laid off 12 people in the Cleveland office. I was the one who had to write the follow-up comms and my inbox got flooded with angry replies from folks saying it felt tone deaf. Ended up spending a whole Saturday rewriting the whole thing and adding a Q&A section. Has anyone else had a message from leadership totally miss the mark like that?
