That time our internal newsletter got a 92% open rate

We launched a new format focused on employee wins and project highlights, skipping the usual policy updates. After the first send, our analytics dashboard showed a 92% open rate, which was a huge jump from our usual 45%. I think it worked because we made it feel less like a corporate memo and more like a team update. Do you think focusing on people over process is the key to cutting through the internal noise?

Wow, that's a huge jump! My friend's team tried something similar last year. They swapped out their dry weekly email for a short video shout-out from managers. It was just two minutes of someone saying "good job" to a few people by name. Their open rate went through the roof too. People just want to feel seen, not just informed. Your results totally prove that.

Cole_walker26 is right about feeling seen. But the real win is what happens after the video. My old boss did those shout-outs, but then he'd drop a quick comment in our team chat the next Monday like "saw your report, great detail." That follow-up made it stick. It wasn't just a one-time thing in an email. It showed he actually remembered. That's when the real trust builds.

Hold up, 92% seems way too high to be real. Those company email stats are always messed up. Half the time it counts as "opened" if the preview pane loads automatically. You switched the content, but you didn't fix the fact that everyone is drowning in notifications. It's just a different flavor of spam.
