Our new HR director, Sarah, sat me down 3 months back and said my internal memos were full of corporate buzzwords like 'synergy' and 'leverage.' She told me to write like I was talking to a friend. I pushed back at first, thinking it sounded too casual. But I tried her way on a safety memo about the new warehouse rules, and I got 40 percent more opens than usual.
