Our leadership's 'quick question' email chain took 4 days and 22 replies

Last week our VP sent a one-line question about the Q3 earnings draft, and by Thursday my inbox had 22 replies, some just saying '+1' with no actual input. I kept thinking the comms team should have stepped in to call the meeting, but instead we all watched the thread spiral into nonsense. Has anyone else dealt with execs refusing to use a simple huddle and turning a 10 minute fix into a week long saga?
