My CEO's 3 page email reply killed an entire launch week
Last month we had a product launch scheduled for Tuesday in Chicago. I sent the final internal comms draft to our CEO for a quick sign off on Friday. He came back Monday morning with a 3 page email full of markups and new strategic talking points he wanted added. We spent the whole day rewriting everything and by Tuesday the launch felt like a mess of mixed messages. The sales team had two different scripts and our customer emails contradicted the press release. It actually worked out in the end but the chaos made me wonder if anyone else has a boss who can't resist editing at the last minute. How do you handle exec feedback that lands right before a big deadline without blowing up your whole plan?
