Just realized our old email style guide is holding us back

We've been using the same 2015 template for internal announcements, and last Tuesday a big benefits update got buried because everyone skimmed past the intro. The new hire who rewrote it with plain sentences and a bold headline got triple the open rate, and now my boss is asking why we're still doing it the old way. Anyone else have a legacy format that quietly became a problem, and how did you get people to let go of it?
