I thought our CEO's skip-level meetings were just theater, then he shot down my idea for a $150K tool in front of 40 people
I work in internal comms for a mid-size insurance company and we rolled out monthly skip-levels about 8 months ago. I sat in one last Tuesday where my director pitched this big employee app and our CEO just said "who asked for this," and nobody in the room could answer. He killed it in about two minutes and told us to spend the money on better manager training instead. Now I'm wondering if any of you have seen skip-levels actually change a decision at your company, or is it just a listening thing?
