...and that's exactly what I told my boss when we tried something similar but went the other way. We stripped everything down to just a headline and a link in the subject line, and our open rate actually dropped by like 40 percent. So I guess there's no perfect formula for this stuff, it's all just guessing and watching what sticks. I've heard reporters get hundreds of emails a day so maybe plain text cuts through the noise better, but then again sometimes it just looks like spam.
