Walked through a shop in Toledo and saw something weird on their spindle

Stopped by a job shop in Toledo to pick up a part and noticed they had a second spindle motor just sitting on the floor, not hooked up to anything. I mean, do people actually keep spares that big around or is that just a hoarder thing? Has anyone else seen random machinery parts lying around like that?
