The old timer at the tool crib in Dayton told me to try a 0.002" finish pass on that titanium part. It worked.

Ever wonder how much of that old school shop knowledge is just gone now? Those guys had tricks for every material that you won't find in a modern manual. It makes me worry about what else we've lost because it wasn't written down. That tiny finish pass is a perfect example of the kind of hands-on wisdom that's priceless.

That "priceless wisdom" often just meant doing things the hard way.

No, that tiny pass probably just wasted time when a bigger cut would have worked fine.
