Spent $80 on a 'universal' collet set that ended up being way out of spec, scrapped two parts before I figured it out.

Cheap tools cost more in the end.

My Harbor Freight collet set has been perfect for years, which makes me disagree with @verac40.

My old Delta drill press came with a collet set that looked like it belonged in a cereal box. I used it for three years doing small woodworking projects before the runout got bad enough to swap it out. It worked fine for basic stuff, just wasn't gonna hold .001 tolerances for anyone.
