Rant: I saw a shop in Tacoma running a 5-axis without any coolant and it's not okay

The operator said it was 'fine for aluminum,' but the chips were welding to the tool and the finish looked awful. Has anyone else seen shops cut corners like this?

Just walk away from that job, seriously. I've seen guys try to run dry on aluminum and it always ends up with a gummy mess and wrecked tools. They're probably trying to save a few bucks on coolant or shop cleanup, but it costs way more in the long run. Tell them to at least use an air blast if they're that scared of coolant, anything to get the heat out.

Dry milling is just dumb.
