Pushed 10,000th part on Monday, the number finally hit me

Ran our old Haas VF-2 since 2019. Monday was the 10,000th part I personally set up and ran. That's a lot of aluminum 6061 scrap and good chips. The number surprised me because I never kept count. Just showed up, loaded stock, hit cycle start. Now I wonder, how many hours of my life are in those parts? Anyone else ever do the math on their own machine count?

Three hundred and eighty seven days at eight hours a cycle time, that's what my spreadsheet told me when I ran the numbers on my own setup. The real kicker is the parts that failed inspection, those hours count double once you add in the rework and the setup changes. Makes you realize the machine logs the time but the real cost is the stuff that never makes it to the truck.
