My lead told me my chip load was too high on the 4140 steel job
He said 'you're gonna burn up that endmill in two parts' and showed me his feed rate calc. I dropped my feed from 45 to 32 IPM and the finish is way better now. Anyone else get called out on something basic that actually helped?

Oh man, totally! I was running a job too fast once and my mentor pointed out the sound was wrong. I slowed it down just like you and not only did the tool last way longer, the whole machine ran smoother. It's easy to get in a hurry and miss the simple stuff. Having someone with more experience catch it is honestly the best way to learn. That little fix saved me so much hassle later.

Happens to everyone. Sometimes you just need to hear the obvious from someone else.
