Just realized I spent 6 months dialing in speeds on the wrong spindle load rating

I picked the 3.7kW model over the 5.5kW because it was $1,400 cheaper and fit the old mount, but now I'm backing off every deep cut in 4140 and wondering if I should've just made a new adapter plate, has anyone else run into this with a retrofit?

Buddy of mine did the same thing on a Bridgeport retrofit, went with the smaller motor to save cash and keep the original mount. He spent weeks chasing chatter and burning up end mills before he finally caved and made a new plate for the bigger spindle. Said the adapter took him one weekend to weld up and bore out, wish he'd done it first. He ate the $1,400 savings in tooling and ruined stock by the time he switched over. Now he jokes that the cheap motor was the most expensive part he ever bought. If you're already backing off on 4140, the math probably ain't gonna get better later.
