I switched from coolant mist to flood coolant and I'm not going back
Everyone in my shop swore by the mist system for the last 8 years. They said it kept things cleaner and used less fluid. After I got tired of replacing nozzles every 2 weeks on our Haas VF-2, I set up a flood coolant line last Tuesday. The finish on my 6061 parts is noticeably smoother and I haven't had a single chip weld since. It does make a bigger mess on the floor, but the cleanup takes me 5 extra minutes versus the 30 I spent fighting mist residue on the windows. Any other operators out there make the switch and find the mess worth the tool life?
