Had a nasty crash on a 316 stainless job because I eyeballed the tool offset

I was running a batch of 50 parts on our Doosan mill and just guessed the offset was still good from the last run. The endmill dug in, snapped the holder, and wrecked the fixture plate. What's your go-to method for double-checking offsets on a repeat job to avoid this?

Always run a quick air cut first.

You just eyeballed a 316 offset? That's a bold move. I always touch off on a fresh spot of the stock, even for a repeat job, because thermal drift is a real thing. A quick skim cut and a mic check has saved me more times than I can count.
