Finally caved and bought a proper edge finder

Spent about $45 on a Tormach one after eyeballing setups for way too long. It's already saved me from scrapping a part on a tricky aluminum job last week. Anyone have a favorite brand for these, or is it all pretty much the same?

Good tools just make the work feel smoother.

Got a cheapo import one years ago, still works fine for me.

@alice121 I get where you're coming from, but I've had the opposite experience. Cheap tools just break or strip out at the worst possible moment, then you're stuck finishing the job with something that barely works. Sure, a budget option gets you by for a while, but there's a reason professional mechanics don't reach for the store brand. A mid tier tool from a known brand costs a bit more upfront and saves you the headache of replacing it every couple years. Why spend money twice when you can buy something decent once and forget about it?
