That $700 Facebook Civic was actually the best car I've bought in 10 years
Saw a 2000 Civic coupe listed for $700 in Rockford with 240k miles and a busted driver window, figured it was a total scam or a rust bucket. Seller was a retiring mechanic who just wanted it gone, and he let me crawl under it in his driveway. Frame was clean, timing belt had 8k miles on it, and the only real issue was a leaking valve cover gasket I fixed in my garage for $12. I drove that thing for two years, flipped it for $1800, and now I don't trust cheap listings that look too clean but I'll chase the ugly ones all day. What's the best beater you almost skipped over just because the price looked too low?
