Stopped by the old salvage yard on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie and half the lot is now EVs
Drove out there Saturday to grab a door for my $1,200 Civic and the owner pointed me to a back row where three wrecked Nissan Leafs were sitting. He said people strip the battery packs before the cars even hit the yard now, and a full pack goes for more than the whole shell used to. Ten years back that same lot was all Corollas and Cavaliers and you could walk out with a running beater for $800. Kinda bums me out that cheap wrenching is turning into battery math. Anyone here actually pulling parts off wrecked EVs yet, or is it still too sketchy to touch?
