That batch of shutter fluid from eBay almost ruined 3 cameras
I ordered a big bottle of shutter damping fluid from a seller in Ohio last month, figured it was the same stuff I always use. By the time I serviced three Nikon FM bodies the fluid had turned into sticky goo inside the shutter mechanism. Has anyone else run into bad batches of this stuff from random sellers?

Saw a repair guy on YouTube warn about the same thing last month.

Yeah I read something the other day where a guy was saying the same thing as @robert_craig's video, about how some of that eBay fluid goes bad real fast. Kinda makes me wonder if it's a batch issue or just a storage thing.

Whoa, hold up, I gotta push back on this a little lol. I've actually bought shutter fluid off eBay like four times now and never had a problem. The last bottle I got from a seller in Ohio worked fine on my Minolta X-700 and a beat-up Pentax K1000. I mean, if you got sticky goo, sounds like maybe the bottle sat in a hot truck or something during shipping, not that all eBay stock is bad. Plus, some of those smaller sellers are just hobbyists selling off extra stuff, they're not trying to trash your cameras.
