Rant: a guy at the Columbus camera show handed me his busted Yashica and said the shutter was fine
I was at the swap meet in Columbus back in March, table near the door, and this older fella slides a Yashica Electro across to me. Says the shutter fires fine, just wants a CLA. I dry fire it and the second curtain is dragging so bad you can hear it wheeze. I told him the shutter was the one thing that was not fine and he got huffy about it. Then he pulled out a photo he took with it, and sure enough there's a bright band across one side where the curtain hung up. He went quiet. That whole thing changed how I take in work now. I don't trust anybody's description of what's wrong, I just fire the thing myself at every speed before I write up a quote. How do you all handle it when a customer swears a certain part is perfect and you can see it's not?
