Question about a stuck shutter on a Pentax K1000 that took me a whole weekend to fix

A whole weekend on a K1000 shutter? Those things are pretty simple mechanically. What exactly was the hang up, some old lube or a bent part?

Right? It should be a quick job. On mine, the old lube had turned into a sticky glue. It took forever to clean every tiny gear and pivot in the slow speed escapement. The reassembly was the real test of patience, getting all those little springs back in place without launching them across the room.
