Old screwdrivers versus new ones for stubborn screws

After 30 years of repairs, I finally replaced my old Swiss screwdrivers with a modern set with better grips. The difference is night and day when I worked on a sticky Leica M3 last week, the new ones didn't strip a single screw head. My old set would have chewed up at least two or three on that job. Has anyone else made this switch, or do you still swear by vintage tools from the 80s?
