A guy brought in his grandpa's old Pentax Spotmatic, said it was just for parts
He watched me fix the sticky advance lever with a drop of lighter fluid and a cotton swab. When it worked, he said 'He'd have liked that,' and I knew we'd saved more than just a camera. Anyone else get one of those quiet wins that makes the whole week?

Honestly I used to just see broken stuff. Now I get it. Fixed a kid's old game console last month, the one his brother left behind. The way he lit up... yeah. Changes how you see the whole job.

Yeah... those are the best moments. Had a guy bring in his dad's old pocket watch once, all gummed up. Just needed a clean and a tiny bit of oil. When it started ticking again he got real quiet... said it hadn't run since his dad passed. Makes you feel like you're fixing a piece of someone, not just a thing.
