A guy at the Portland camera show handed me back my 'fixed' Rolleiflex and I've refused to rush a CLA since
Back in March I picked up a Rolleiflex 3.5 at the Portland Expo show for $180, shutter was sluggish below 1/30. A vendor there offered to CLA it for $60 in a week and I said sure, cheap right? Got it back and the slow speeds were still sticky, plus he'd cranked the focus collar way too tight, so I sent it to a guy in Seattle who took five weeks and charged $145. Difference was night and day, smooth as butter at 1 second and the focus is silky. Now I flat out refuse to hand anything to a 'while you wait' repair guy, no matter how good the price looks. Has anyone else had a cheap quick CLA bite them, or am I just unlucky with show vendors?
