Talked to a guy at a coffee shop in Austin who said he stopped all paid ads for 6 months. It made me rethink everything.

But what if that guy just had a bad ad strategy? @grace_perry44, he might have been running the wrong ads to the wrong people. I tried cutting ads once and my website traffic just died. For a local shop, maybe a simple Google ad for "best coffee near me" is all it takes to get new customers in the door. Going completely dark seems like a huge risk unless you're already a huge name.

Yeah but you can't just cut all ads and expect everything to be fine. That's like saying you're gonna stop watering your lawn and wondering why it turns brown. The guy in that article didn't just stop ads cold turkey. He shifted to stuff like local SEO and getting listed on Google Maps, which is basically free ads for a coffee shop or bakery. That "best coffee near me" keyword you mentioned? It works way better when your Google Business profile is actually filled out and has good reviews. Ads can bring people in but they can also eat your budget fast if you're not careful with targeting.

What did he say made him do it?
