Stumbled on a stat about repeat clients that blew my mind

I was digging through my customer list from the last 6 months in Des Moines and found that 42% of my new work came from people who'd only hired me once before. That totally surprised me because I always thought referrals were the main driver, but it looks like just staying in touch with old clients is the real goldmine. Has anyone else run the numbers and seen a similar split between repeat business and straight referrals?
