Ran the same ad on Facebook and Google for my dog walking service
I put $50 into each platform for a week to see which brought in more clients. The Facebook ad got a bunch of likes and shares, but only one person booked a walk. The Google ad, which showed up when people searched 'dog walker near me', got me five new customers right away. It turns out people on Google were already looking to hire, while Facebook was just for scrolling. Has anyone else found search ads work way better than social ones for local services?

Have you tried splitting your budget to test different times of day or week? I ran a similar test for my handyman service and got the same results. Facebook likes felt good but Google search ads brought in people who actually called me. I think part of it is that Facebook crowds are just not in a buying mood most of the time. Google catches people who are frustrated and ready to hire someone right then. I still run a tiny Facebook ad for brand awareness but 80% of my money goes to search now.

Focus your budget on search ads for services people need right now. You're paying to reach customers who are already looking to buy.

Wait you're putting ALL your money into search ads? That's crazy to me. What about all the people who don't even know they need your service yet? You're only talking to people already typing in the exact right words. You need some kind of brand stuff out there too, or you're missing a huge chunk of possible customers.
