Pro tip: Found a tire repair shop that fixed my work truck for $40 instead of $400

Last Monday my F-250 had a nail right in the sidewall. Everywhere I called said I needed a whole new tire and wanted $400 plus. One guy at a little place off Highway 90 in San Antonio said he could plug it for $40 cash. I figured why not try it before dropping that kind of money. He patched it from the inside and it's been holding air fine for a week now. I've been taking my whole fleet there since. Anyone else find a local guy that saves you big money on stuff like this?

Oh, plugging a sidewall is just asking for a blowout on the highway.

Has anyone actually seen a proper sidewall plug hold up long term? I feel like the heat and flexing just makes it a ticking time bomb, even if you get lucky for a few miles.

Wait, didn't a forum mod say plugs in sidewalls fail almost every time?
