Hitting 1,000 clients last month scared me more than the early days

We crossed 1,000 total clients last month after 6 years of referrals and cold calls, and I thought I'd be celebrating but instead I spent the whole week checking our support queue every hour. The issue is our systems were built for maybe 200 accounts, so billing errors and onboarding delays started popping up in 3 different states before we even noticed. Has anyone else hit a growth milestone that actually exposed bigger problems than you had at 50 clients?

honestly that 1,000 number is just a round number that sounds nice but means nothing. you went from 200 to 1,000 over six years, so your systems had time to break all along, you just ignored the signs because growth felt good. now you're acting surprised that billing errors happen when you never stress tested anything past a few hundred clients. if anything, hitting 1k is the reality check you needed, not the problem itself. the real issue is you built a business that scales on vibes and now you're paying for it.
