Ditched my old lead tracking spreadsheet for a CRM I swore I'd never use
After 8 years running my shop with a paper ledger and then a color-coded spreadsheet, I finally caved and dropped $63 a month on a CRM last March because I missed 3 big commercial bids in one week. Has anyone else found that the tool you resisted the most actually ended up saving your business, or did you go back to the old way?

I kept my old spreadsheet running in parallel for three months before I finally admitted the CRM wasn't the enemy. The thing that sealed it for me was the automatic follow-up reminders - I stopped losing track of quotes that needed a second nudge. You might want to hold onto your old system as a safety net while you get used to the new one. It took me a full cycle of quarterly bids before I trusted the new tool enough to let the spreadsheet go. The money hurt at first but not as much as missing another big job because I forgot to update a cell.
