Walked into a craft store and saw a wall of $8 washi tape that wasn't even sticky
Was at Michael's last weekend grabbing a new notebook. They had this whole aisle full of washi tape, all marked down to $8 each. Picked one up to test it and it barely stuck to my finger. Felt like cheap plastic with a print on it. I started bullet journaling to get organized, not to fight with materials that don't work. Anyone else find that store brand supplies just waste your time?

Michael's brand stuff is hit or miss but $8 for a roll of washi tape that doesn't stick is rough. You sure you grabbed one of the regular ones and not the adhesive sample roll they put out for people to test? I've seen at least two stores where the tester tape is basically dead from everyone touching it. Their house brand is usually okay for decorating in a journal but if you need the tape to actually hold things down, you gotta go with MT or a Japanese brand. Even the $2 rolls at Daiso stick better than the Michael's ones.

Is it really that serious though? It's washi tape, not like the whole project falls apart if one piece curls up after a week. Worst case you use a glue stick on the back and move on with your life.
