Spent 4 months trying to draw a straight line for my weekly log before I gave up and printed a grid
I tried everything to keep my weekly log neat. Rulers, dot grid guides, even one of those rolling ruler things from Michael's that cost me $12. Every Monday I'd sit there for 20 minutes trying to make 7 equal boxes and they'd still come out lopsided, and by Wednesday the whole page looked like a 5 year old did it. I blamed my handwriting, then my pens, then the paper, then finally admitted it was the hand drawn grid itself that was the problem. So last month I just made a template in Google Docs and printed 52 weeks worth at Staples for $8. Now I tape one in every Sunday night in about 30 seconds and the boxes are actually square. My whole bujo looks 10x cleaner and I have not touched a ruler in weeks. Anyone else ditch the hand drawn layouts for printed ones, or am I committing some kind of journaling sin here?
The "5 year old did it" comparison got me because I once spent like 45 minutes drawing a monthly calendar and my cat walked across the wet ink and honestly it looked better than before. The real kicker is I kept telling myself the mess was part of the charm, like some artsy rustic vibe, when really I just could not draw a straight line to save my life. I even bought one of those clear plastic stencils that warp and slide everywhere, so my boxes came out crooked anyway. My trick now is stealing the free calendar inserts from my bank, cutting them to fit, and taping them in. Zero shame over here.
