My color coding system fell apart after one bad week
Last month I was tracking my water intake and mood in my bullet journal with this elaborate color key, 5 colors for different feelings. Then I got slammed at work and missed three days, and when I came back I couldn't remember if blue meant 'stressed' or 'fine'. I spent an hour trying to decode my own pages and just gave up, switched to a single dot system with a simple legend on each spread. Has anyone else had their tracking get too complicated and had to simplify mid-month, or do you just start fresh next month?

Sticking with the dot system keeps future weeks readable," but you're really just covering up the mess instead of fixing it. Mid-month changes make your journal a messy mix of old and new, so you'll spend even more time guessing what meant what later on. @felixh45, starting fresh next month gives you a clean break and a real reason to rethink your whole system, not just patch it.

Sticking with the dot system keeps future weeks readable, so mid-month changes beat wiping everything out.
