My $75 fountain pen was a total waste of money for bullet journaling

Everyone in the videos says a good pen is key. So I bought a Lamy Safari. It bleeds through my Leuchtturm paper, skips on fast notes, and needs constant refills. My basic Pilot G2 gel pen costs $2 and works perfectly every time. Has anyone else ditched the fancy pen hype and just stuck with what actually works?

Spot the same thing with coffee gear! My cheap drip machine makes a better cup than the fancy pour-over setup I never use.

Honestly that "fancy pour-over setup I never use" line hits hard. Tbh half my kitchen is just expensive stuff that makes me feel guilty for using the simple thing that works.

My buddy Mike spent $90 on a Lamy Al-Star last year, swore it would change his handwriting forever. Six months later I found it in his glove box under a stack of fast food napkins. He just uses those 50 cent Bic Cristals from the grocery store now, says they write fine and he doesn't feel bad when he loses one. The fancy pen hype is real but mostly for people who want to feel like they're in a stationery ad, not for actual writing.
