I finally stuck with a monthly spread for the whole thing
Always messed up my layouts halfway through. Made a super simple one this time. Just circles for days and basic lists. Actually filled it all out. Felt really good to flip through it.

Just flipping pages" can show you a lot actually. You notice how chapters are laid out, if there are pictures or graphs, even the writing style from a random paragraph. I found a key diagram once just by thumbing through a manual. It's not deep study, but it gives you a real feel for what you're dealing with faster than just reading the back cover.
