I ditched the whole monthly log setup six months ago

Everyone says you need a monthly calendar spread for overview, but I stopped doing them back in April and just use a rolling weekly layout now. It freed up so much space and I actually track my habits better without flipping back and forth. Has anyone else tried skipping the monthly spread?

My February monthly spread sat there blank for three weeks before I finally ripped it out. The rolling weekly approach works better for me too because I can see what actually happened versus what I planned to happen. I started keeping a single index card in my front pocket with just three priorities for the week and it replaced the whole monthly overview thing. The monthly spread always felt like I was looking at a map of a trip I never took.

Hold up, @jason958, a map of a trip you never took? See, that's exactly why I NEED the monthly spread. The blank spaces are the whole point for me, they show me what I chose NOT to do (which is data, not failure). That tiny index card with three priorities sounds great until you realize you're ignoring the dentist appointment, car registration, and that birthday card you keep forgetting. The monthly overview is like a parking lot map, sure you don't drive around it every day but without it you'd be lost when you actually need to park, you know?
