Unpopular opinion: my brother's $9/week coffee habit taught me more about saving than any app did
Last Saturday my brother told me he puts $9 a week into a jar instead of buying coffee out, and he has done this for 3 years straight. I laughed at first since it sounds like nothing, but that jar had $1,400 in it when he cracked it open in his kitchen in Boise. He never tracked a single dollar in an app or made a spreadsheet, he just moved one small amount and forgot about it. I have 4 budgeting apps and I am somehow worse off than a guy with a pickle jar. What is the smallest dumb habit that actually moved the needle for you?
