Took me 3 months to fix my grocery budget, turns out it was the bulk bins

Started tracking every dollar in January. Cut takeout, meal prepped, all that. Still blew the food budget by $80 each month. Finally figured out last week that I was buying spices and grains from the bulk section at my local co-op without checking the price per pound. Some of that stuff costs more than the packaged version. Switched to buying only what I need in bags. Saved $23 on my last trip. Anyone else found a sneaky budget killer that took forever to spot?

Realized the same thing happens with a lot of "smart" shopping habits... you think you're being clever but the store is always a step ahead. Bulk bins feel cheaper because you only grab a little bit, but that little bit adds up way faster than a bag you can see the size of. Same with produce sometimes, the loose veggies look great but the bagged ones are half the price. It's like everything in a grocery store is designed to trick your eyes instead of your wallet. Once you start catching those patterns, you can't unsee them honestly.
