The week my grocery budget actually worked and I saved 40 bucks
So last Tuesday I decided to really stick to my meal plan for once. I wrote down every single ingredient I needed for 5 dinners and went to Aldi with a hard limit of $75. No impulse buys, no extras, just the list. By Saturday I had cooked every meal and still had leftovers for lunch Sunday. I normally spend like $115 a week on food so this felt huge. Has anyone else had a week where the numbers just lined up perfectly?

Aldi is the real MVP of saving money honestly. I had a similar week last month where I planned out 4 dinners using their produce and it came to like $62. But the thing that made it work was I stopped buying any drinks except water. No juice no soda no nothing. That alone saved me around $18 a week and I didn't even notice because I just drink tap water now. Also freezing leftover veggies before they go bad helped stretch things. You gotta think about what you're buying that you actually don't need and cut that first.

You hit it with the "you don't actually need" stuff. That's the real trick people skip. They keep buying what they're used to instead of what they'll actually eat.
